Meta has introduced changes to their API that no longer support personal Instagram accounts or accounts that are not linked to a Facebook Page.

What does this mean for you?

If you're using platforms that rely on Meta's API like Koast.ai, you’ll need to make a few changes to your Instagram setup. Without these updates, your account may not appear in integrations, and you might not be able to launch your ads into those accounts.

Required Setup

To ensure your Instagram account works with Meta’s updated APIs and to continue using Koast smoothly  you will need to complete two quick steps:

  • Switch to a Professional account

  • Link it to a Facebook Page

These steps allow the API to recognize and access your Instagram for publishing, insights, and ad-related features.

To do this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Switch to a professional Instagram account

    • Open the Instagram app

    • Go to Profile > Menu (☰) > Account type and tools > Switch to professional account

    • Choose either Business or Creator

  2. Link your Instagram account to a Facebook page

    • Go to your Facebook page or open Meta Business Suite.

    • In Page Settings, connect your Instagram account.

    • This link is what enables API access to your IG account.

⚠️ Without making these changes, your Instagram account may not show up in Koast.ai or other platforms that rely on Meta’s API.

⚠️You could experience issues with publishing content, accessing insights, or running ads, and, in some cases, your ad account connections may stop working altogether.
