Campaign statuses explained
What each campaign, ad set and ad status means and what to do about it.
Every campaign, ad set and ad in Koast shows a status chip. This page explains each one and what to do about it.
Statuses
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Built in Koast, not published yet. Anything inside a draft is a draft too. | Finish it and launch it. |
| Live | On and delivering, or on and ready to deliver. | Nothing. |
| Scheduled | Published, with a start time that hasn't arrived yet. | Nothing. It starts on its own. |
| Under Review | The ad platform is reviewing it. This usually takes a few minutes to a few hours. | Wait. You can't switch it on or off until the review ends. |
| Processing | The ad platform is still processing it, which often includes review time for newly launched ads. | Wait. It can't be switched on or off yet. |
| Rejected | The ad platform rejected or disapproved it, or its last launch failed. | Hover the error icon next to it to read the platform's reason, fix the ad and publish again. |
| Off | Paused, archived or deleted, or stopped because billing is missing or a payment failed. | Turn it back on, or fix billing. |
| Unknown | The ad platform hasn't reported a status back yet. | Refresh in a minute. If it stays Unknown, check the campaign on the platform. |
How statuses add up
A campaign's or ad set's chip sums up what's inside it. If it's on, Koast looks at its ads in this order: any ad Live makes it Live, then Scheduled, Under Review, Processing and Rejected. If none of those apply, it shows Off. A draft or a paused parent always shows as Draft or Off.
When you can't switch something on or off
The toggle is blocked while a status is settling, and hovering it tells you why. Common reasons:
- "The parent campaign is paused. Activate the campaign first." (or the parent ad set)
- "Pending review by the ad provider. This usually takes a few minutes to a few hours."
- "The ad provider has not confirmed a status for this entity yet, so it cannot be switched on or off. This usually clears within a few minutes of publishing."
- "A payment for this ad account failed, so it stopped spending. Retry the payment from the alert on your Home screen."
Launch outcomes
Right after you launch, each campaign in the launch results shows how the launch went:
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| QUEUED | Waiting its turn to launch. |
| LAUNCHING | Being created on the ad platform. |
| LAUNCHED | Everything was created. |
| CREATED, NOT ACTIVE | Created at the ad platform but couldn't be switched on automatically. Turn it on in your ads manager, and don't relaunch it: that builds a second campaign. |
| DRAFTS QUEUED | Launched as drafts, with some parts not published yet. |
| FAILED | The launch didn't go through. |
For what to do after a partial or failed launch, see Launch results: partial, removed, action required.
