Connect a Meta pixel to an ad account in Business Manager

Give an ad account access to your Meta pixel in Business Manager, so you can pick it when you launch from Koast.

Meta ad accounts track conversions with your Meta pixel. Koast only lists the pixels your ad account can use, so if a pixel isn't connected to the ad account in Meta Business Manager, it won't show in the Pixel field when you build a campaign.

Every step on this page happens inside Meta Business Manager, not in Koast. Meta renames its menus from time to time, so the labels you see may differ slightly.

Meta

Before you start

  • You need admin access to the Business Manager. With employee access, a Business Manager admin may have to give you more permissions first.
  • The pixel has to exist already. If it doesn't, create it in Meta Events Manager first.
  • You need access to the ad account you want to connect.

Connect the pixel to your ad account

These steps happen in Meta Business Manager.

  1. Open Business Settings in Meta Business Manager.

  2. In the left menu, open Data Sources, then Pixels.

  3. Select your pixel.

  4. Open the Connected Assets tab and select Add Assets.

  5. Pick the ad account you launch from in Koast and select Add.

Then refresh your assets in Koast

Koast keeps a copy of your pages, pixels and Instagram accounts. After you connect the pixel, pull a fresh copy:

  1. In Koast, open Settings, then Facebook.

  2. Under Connected Ad Account Summary, select Refresh Assets.

You can also select REFRESH ASSETS in the campaign's settings, next to the Pixel field. Refreshing is rate limited: if the button is greyed out, wait a few minutes and try again.

If the pixel belongs to another Business Manager

To use a pixel owned by a different Business Manager, share it with that business first, then connect it there. You need admin access in both.

These steps happen in Meta Business Manager.

  1. In the Business Manager that owns the pixel, open Business Settings, then Data Sources, then Pixels.

  2. Select the pixel and choose Assign Partners.

  3. Choose Business ID, enter the other Business Manager's ID, pick the access level and select Next.

  4. Switch to the other Business Manager and open Business Settings, then Data Sources, then Pixels.

  5. Select the shared pixel, open Connected Assets, select Add Assets and pick the ad account.

If it still doesn't work

  • The pixel isn't in the list in Business Manager. Check that the pixel is owned by, or shared with, the Business Manager you're in.
  • You can't add assets. You most likely don't have enough permissions. Ask a Business Manager admin to give you access to both the pixel and the ad account.
  • The pixel still doesn't show in Koast. The Facebook profile connected to Koast needs access to the pixel too. See Missing pages, pixels or ad accounts.
