Koast ad accounts: launch blocked, card declined, payment failed
Fix the payment and agreement problems that stop a Koast ad account from launching or spending.
Koast ad accounts are provided through our partner Whop, and each one pays for its own ads with a card saved on that ad account. This page covers what you see when that card is missing, not set up for ads, declined or out of funds, and when the advertising agreement isn't signed yet.
Koast ad accountAd spend is charged to the card set as the ad account's payment method for ads. Koast has nothing to top up, so every check before a launch, and every fix below, comes down to that card.
Add a payment method to launch
Before you launch, you see:
If you try to launch anyway:
Why it happens. The ad account has no card for ad spend yet.
How to fix it.
Select Add payment method on the message. Or open Settings, Billing, find the ad account under Ad spend (it shows Needs a card) and select Add card.
Enter your card and save it.
Launch again.
Your card is saved but not set for ads
Why it happens. Saving a card and choosing it as the card that pays for ads are two separate steps. The first happened, the second didn't.
How to fix it. In Settings, Billing, under Ad spend, open the ad account, select the saved card for ads, then launch again.
Sign the advertising agreement
Why it happens. Every Koast ad account needs the advertising agreement signed once before anything can launch.
How to fix it. Select Sign the agreement, type your name, sign and accept the terms. See Create a Koast ad account.
If you've already signed and you see this instead:
Nothing's wrong. Wait a few minutes and launch again. Under Ad spend, the ad account shows Finishing setup until it's done.
Your card's country doesn't match
Why it happens. Our payment partner declines ad spend charges when the card was issued in a different country from the one you're using Koast in.
How to fix it. Add a card issued in the country you're working from. If you can't, select Contact support and we'll help you get set up.
Your ads have stopped: payment failed
On Home, under Needs attention:
Instead of the last sentence, you may see the reason the payment partner gave.
Why it happens. The charge for ad spend on that ad account failed, for example because the card was declined. The account's campaigns stop spending until it's paid.
How to fix it.
Make sure the card has funds, or change the card: in Settings, Billing, under Ad spend, select Change card next to the ad account and set the new card for ads.
Back on Home, check the card named on the alert, for example
Will charge Visa ****4242. That's the card the retry uses.Select Retry payment.
If the retry fails again, select Contact support. Koast opens a message to us with the details already filled in.
A message you don't recognise
This is the catch-all when the ad account isn't ready for a reason none of the sections above cover. Open the ad account's setup from Settings, Billing, under Ad spend, and finish the step it stops on. When everything is in place, the banner reads Ad account is ready to launch, with "A card is on file. Ads will start delivering as soon as you launch."
Still stuck?
Tell us which ad account it is and the exact message you see. Still stuck? Message us from the chat bubble.
