Write ad copy
Write primary text, headlines and descriptions for your ads, with or without AI.
Every ad needs copy: a headline, primary text and, if you like, a description. Let Koast write it with AI, write it yourself, or leave it for later.
Write copy in the builder
You set copy in the last step of the Add Ads wizard, Copy Settings. See Add ads for the steps before it.
Pick a copy mode at the top: None, AI Generated or Manual.
Pick the Destination, the page your ads send people to. It's required. See Destinations.
Pick the Call to action, the button shown on every ad.
Fill in the fields for your mode (below), then select Create Ads.
The three modes
| Mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| None | Ads are created with creatives only. Add copy later in each ad's settings. |
| AI Generated | Koast writes the copy from your destination and the options you pick. |
| Manual | You write the headlines, primary texts and descriptions. |
AI Generated
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Type | Short & direct aims at about 150 characters, two or three sentences at most. Long-form aims at about 475 characters. Testimonial writes a quoted first-person customer story of 250 to 500 characters, ending on a call to action. |
| Purpose | New customers, Re-engaging for people who showed interest but didn't buy, or Retargeting for customers and warm leads. |
| Variations per creative | How many copy versions Koast writes for each creative. |
| Include emojis | Adds emojis that fit the tone. |
| Creativity amplifier | From 1 to 10. Lower values stay close to your inputs. Higher values get more creative, so check the results. |
| Language | Type any language, including a regional variant such as Brazilian Portuguese or British English. English is the default. |
Long-form copy works best when your destination's Additional Info is filled in, so Koast has the details to write about.
Manual
Write up to 5 variations each of Headline, Primary text and Description. Select + Add variation for another. You can start from a saved Copy template, and use Desired AI changes to have AI refine what you wrote (for example "punchier, shorter").
Pick how the variations combine under Ad setup:
| Ad setup | How it works |
|---|---|
| Dynamic | Each creative gets one ad that carries all your variations, and the ad platform combines them. |
| Standalone | Headline 1, primary text 1 and description 1 make one ad, and so on, for every creative. You need the same number of headlines, primary texts and descriptions (if you use descriptions). |
Manual copy keeps the words constant across every creative, which is useful when you're testing creatives against each other.
Write copy on the Creatives page
The older Generate Ads flow has its own Copy Settings. Turn AI-Powered Copy on for AI copy, with Copy Type (Short, Direct Sales Copy, Longer, Descriptive Copy, Testimonial Story Copy), Copy Purpose (Acquiring New Customers, Re-Engaging Interested Prospects, Retargeting Customers or Warm Leads), Language, variations and Include Emojis?. Turn it off to type your own copy. See Launch from the Creatives page.
Edit copy on one ad
Open an ad's settings and go to Copy & Creative. You can load copy with Load from Template, edit up to 5 Headlines, Primary Text and Description (optional) entries, and change the Call to Action. In this drawer a headline can be up to 255 characters, primary text up to 9,999 and a description up to 150.
A description is best kept to 25 to 30 characters. It needs a headline or primary text to show, and some placements shorten or hide it.
Good to know
- Primary text is required on Meta and Whop before you can launch.
- Limits Koast checks at launch:
| Field | Whop | |
|---|---|---|
| Primary text | 40,000 characters | 40,000 characters |
| Headline | 255 characters | 500 characters |
| Description | 500 characters | 1,000 characters |
- No duplicate variations. If two headlines or descriptions are the same, Koast asks you to remove the duplicate before it creates the ads.
- The number of ads you create at once is capped by your plan. If the creatives times the variations go over it, Koast asks you to reduce the variations per creative.
- Live ads on Meta keep their copy. To change copy on a live Meta ad, duplicate the ad. On Whop you can edit it. See Edit a live campaign.
