Ads about credit, jobs, housing, social issues, elections or politics have to be declared as a special ad category. The ad platforms apply extra rules to them, and a campaign that should be declared but isn't can be rejected.

Set the category

1. Open the campaign's settings with Campaign Settings.

2. In Campaign Objective, pick the category under Special Ad Categories.

3. Under Ad Category Target Locations, pick the countries or regions where the ads will run. Type at least 2 characters to search. Meta

4. In Targeting & Delivery, set Locations to the same places.

The category is set on the campaign, so every ad set and ad in it shares it.

The categories

The Special Ad Categories list has None (the default), Financial Products & Services, Employment, Housing and Social Issues, Elections, or Politics. Pick the one that matches what the ads are about. If your ad relates to credit, employment, housing, social issues, elections or politics, you must pick a category.

On the Creatives page

In the Generate Ads flow, tick Special Ad Category in campaign setup and pick the category there. See Launch from the Creatives page.

Good to know

• Political ads need verification on Meta. Meta requires ID verification and an approved disclaimer to run political ads, and only pages and profiles authorized for political content can run them. If the Meta profile or page connected to Koast isn't verified for political ads, the launch fails.
• Keep locations consistent. Target the same countries in Locations as in Ad Category Target Locations, or Meta may refuse the launch.
• Meta has the final say. Declaring the category correctly doesn't guarantee approval. Meta still reviews every ad.
• Whop Whop takes the special ad category but not the country list. On a Whop ad account, Ad Category Target Locations isn't available: "Ad category target locations are not available on this ad account."
